Corin Sworn is Associate Professor of Fine Art at the Ruskin School of Art, Oxford University. Sworn’s work manifests through different mediums, using formal strategies of appropriation and détournement to address the means by which our interpretation and digestion of cultural matter (histories, artefacts, images) produce us as social subjects. Sworn was 2015 recipient of the Philip Leverhulme Award from the Leverhulme Trust and was awarded the Max Mara Art Prize for Women in 2014. She represented Scotland at The Venice Biennale in 2013 and was shortlisted for the 2018 Margaret Tait Award. Her 2018 solo exhibition WORKHOUSE at KoppeAstner was part of the Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art. Sworn will present a new commission for Edinburgh Arts Festival 2019.
